Early Detection

Early detection can save your life and it has extremely strict medical guidelines. The American Cancer Society recommends that “People who are at increased risk for certain cancers may need to follow a different screening schedule, such as starting at an earlier age or being screened more often. Those with symptoms that could be related to cancer should see their doctor right away”.

There are many risk factors for cancer that cannot be changed like age, sex, and generic inheritance. Our focus is to deal with the risk factors that we can change by comprehensive screening, proactive testing, and life style modifying.


Our early detection approach is not limited to cancer, but it extends to all potential illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease. Our proactive approach is designed to identify early signs of disease and to implement personalized strategies for disease-modification.

Prevention

Also known as risk reduction – means taking actions to reduce or eliminate the risk of getting cancer, cardiovascular diseases. Research has shown that 50% of cancer can be prevented through healthy living and policies that protect the public. (Canadian Cancer Society)


Also, prevention plays a major role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association recommends that “Intensively managing risk factors enhances survival, reduces recurrent events and the need for intervention procedures, and improves the quality of life for coronary heart disease patients”.

Yes. To comply with the Act, we ensure that patients are not charged for the provision of benefits or given priority access to medically necessary services. The Act establishes rules regarding billing for services provided by physicians who are enrolled with MSP. In general, patients (or their representatives) cannot not be charged for publicly insured benefits. 


MSP however does not provide coverage for preventive services and screening tests not supported by evidence of medical effectiveness (for example, routine annual "complete" physical examinations, whole body CT scans, prostate specific antigen (PSA) tests). 


We provide proactive wellness advice and services. We ensure no one is charged for the provision of insured benefits in B.C. by communicating what services are benefits and which are not, and billing insured services in accordance with the Act. 


Through access to our CarePoint clinic locations, we offer the same access to medically necessary services from enrolled doctors via the next available appointment without charge. 


Our technology is designed for in-home use and requires no training, special power adaptors and can be safely checked in your luggage for travel. It includes an exam camera and thermometer, otoscope, stethoscope, tongue depressor adaptors and is certified by the FDA, CE and HIPAA compliant. 


The wellness exam types that our technology allows for includes exams of the heart, lungs, throat, ears, heart rate, temperature and skin. 


The technology we provide is at zero-cost to members.

A one-time complete health and wellness in-person half-day assessment with one of our doctors is $3,600. Then for $85/month you have access to a wellness medical team on call 24/7 and regular check-in’s with a medical team using remote diagnostic technology to monitor your progress and address any issues or concerns that occur. Ask us about qualifying for low-income subsidies. 


Yes! We will partner with any non-profit or foundation interested in subsidizing membership in our wellness program to ensure access for all.

A comprehensive initial assessment is required because it creates a health and wellness baseline. Part of this includes an individualized action plan your health team will use when helping you achieve your health and wellness goals. A complete blood panel will also be conducted at our location as part of your assessment. 


Members with pre-existing conditions and complex health circumstances are welcome. 


You are welcome to contact your on-call medical and wellness team as many times as you like. An as-needed appointment is available every three months, after this appointment is used in the same three month period, there is a nominal fee for additional appointments. We do not charge for medically necessary or insured services. 


We start by scheduling a complete in-person health assessment. In advance of that appointment, a detailed questionnaire needs to be completed so we can ensure complete personalization of your health and wellness plan. 


After your complete in-person assessment, you will be debriefed on the findings and talked through your personalized plan. Often a number of referrals to specialists are made at this time. 


We are fully HIPAA Complaint. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) defines the security and privacy regulations required to protect sensitive patient health information. Specifically, the Act addresses requirements for handling protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (ePHI). 


Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you're thriving. To understand the significance of wellness, it's important to understand how it's linked to your health.


Your personalized wellness plan will include specific actions, responsibilities, timelines, resources available or needed, potential barriers and a communications plan. The plan also includes how success will be measured and determined. 


Yes! Your membership comes with a toll free Wellness Hotline. Call this number from anywhere in the world 24/7 and be connected to your health team located in British Columbia.


To ensure we are focused on delivery of the highest level of service, we currently only offer this service to British Columbians, Canadians temporarily living abroad, organisations and corporations located in British Columbia, and Canadian First Nations.
